CAYUGA, Ind. (Aug. 20, 2013) – Just a month after announcing that Speedco, Inc. met its $500,000 donation pledge to their corporate charity, Make-A-Wish®, Speedco is celebrating again with the organization that grants wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions. Each year Speedco holds an annual, internal competition among their 51 locations to collect donations for Make-A-Wish. On July 17, Speedco recognized the top fundraiser in 2012, their Wytheville, Va. location, by hosting a party and donating support to help them fund a child’s wish in the Wytheville community.
Teammates spent the afternoon with 14-year-old Trenton and his family. Although Trenton’s wish for a new laptop computer and games was granted by Make-A-Wish in 2012, Trenton was able to share his story with Speedco during the party and enjoy a day filled with his favorite gaming activities. Trenton was served his favorite food for lunch and played video games with Speedco teammates on a 70-inch television in the tire bay. The funds Speedco donated to Make-A-Wish in honor of the Wytheville store’s fundraising success will help to grant a wish like Trenton’s in the future.
In addition to the Wytheville location, Speedco will also grant a local wish in another community later this year. Donations are collected for Make-A-Wish daily at every Speedco location, and during Speedco FORE Wishes, a bi-annual golf outing.
Speedco teammates celebrate with Trenton and his family after collecting donations all year for Make-A-Wish.
