Whether a manufacturer needs a quick shipment of components to get production rolling, or a healthcare facility orders lifesaving medical devices to treat critically ill patients, or any scenario where goods must arrive “just in time,” expedited drivers are essential to making that happen.
But where do you learn more about how to tap into the profit potential in expedited trucking? Where are the best opportunities for individuals or team drivers? How do you get started as an expediter?
Expo for Expediters
This is where Expedite Expo comes in.
Expedite Expo, which will be held July 25 and 26 at the Roberts Convention Centre in Wilmington, Ohio, is the only trade show in the world focused exclusively on the expedited trucking industry. Launched in 2001, the Expo attracts more than 4,000 annual attendees and exhibitors across North America to learn about the newest trucks, career opportunities, and products geared specifically to owner operators and drivers of medium-duty and heavy-duty trucks.
Who is the Expo for?
- People who want to learn about the fast-paced expedited trucking industry
- Truck owners who want to master best practices in truck maintenance
- Owners seeking trucks, equipment, and financing for 2014 and beyond
- Couples searching for a profitable first or second career
- Owner operators seeking to lease with a trucking carrier.
This event features over 70 exhibitors from truck manufacturers, dealers, trucking carriers, truck suppliers, and service providers. The Expo covers over 60,000 sq. feet of trucks, truck parts, chrome, trucking displays, product exhibits, and free live entertainment.
Why Expedited Trucking?
Expedited trucking offers flexibility in the type and size vehicles you operate, depending on your goals and budget. Owner operators use vehicles ranging from smaller one-ton trucks or cargo vans, to medium-duty (Class 4-7) straight trucks, all the way up to Class 8 tractor trailers. So, if you’re not ready for the big-ticket investment in a tractor, you can start with a one-ton van and build your business from there.
There are also a wide variety of jobs available as an expediter to keep things fresh and interesting. It might be delivering one box that’s absolutely critical to a customer, or it could be several truckloads for a major manufacturer. It’s all precious cargo, and the financial rewards can be lucrative for the hard-working expediter.
For some couples, a career in expedited trucking means the opportunity to work and travel together – and create a new revenue stream for their family. And there’s plenty of room for growth. Some expediters start out with one truck and eventually own their own small fleets.
